Power of coaching

It is well known that to excel in sports, you hire a sports coach. What is not well known is that to maximize your potential in various walks of life, you may hire a life coach. Many successful individuals have a coach. Life coach can help you with personal development, career development, health, spirituality, happiness, finance, family and relationships.

Let us explore the power of coaching through the thoughts of some powerful minds.

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problem.” – Gandhi

Gandhi knew the power of individuals better than anyone. He led India to freedom against a mighty empire with non-violence as the weapon. If the difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing is sufficient to solve most of the world’s problems, it is enough to solve an organization problem, family problem and an individual problem. Isn’t it? This is at the heart of what coaches believe.

“How deeply you touch another life is how rich your life is” – Sadhguru Vasudev, Founder – Isha Foundation

Sadhguru Vasudev runs a voluntary foundation of over 2M volunteers in over 150 cities around the world. One day we will be gone. At that time, it doesn’t matter what car we drove, what house we lived in, what title we had in an organization or how much money we left in the bank. What matters is the difference you made for people and things around you. This ability to make a difference is what inspires coaches.

“Everyone needs a coach” – Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google 2001 to 2011

Eric Schmidt is widely recognized for leading Google from a private company with undisclosed revenue to a $ 29 B public company. His video on YouTube with this quote is a must view. This is further support for why we need coaches. Even a coach needs a coach!

Alright, some times you may still not be sure if you really need a coach. It is totally normal to feel this way. Why should you believe something just because former Google’s CEO said we need it? The below exercise may help you figure this out for yourself.

In order to get the best outcome for you, promise yourself that you will answer the below questions honestly and from how you typically feel and NOT how you want to feel. Please make sure you have 15 to 30 minutes set aside for this when you can completely focus on this and not be distracted by other things going on around you. You may want to copy-past the below section or print it out before you answer.

Note: If you select 1, it means you are not satisfied. If you select 5, you are totally satisfied. If you select between 1 and 5, it shows how closely you feel between either of the two sides (not satisfied and totally satisfied).
